About

Bo Fernhall was professor and chair of the exercise science department at Syracuse University and spent seven years as professor in the kinesiology and community health department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, before coming to UIC as dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences and professor of kinesiology and nutrition in 2011. Dr. Fernhall founded the UIC Integrative Physiology Laboratory and has over 20 years of experience directing university-based cardiac rehabilitation programs. Dr. Fernhall has taught exercise physiology courses in both kinesiology and physical therapy departments. His research is focused on people with disabilities, especially individuals with Down syndrome and on racial and ethnic disparities. Dr. Fernhall is associate editor of Medicine & Science in Sport & Exercise, and serves on the editorial boards for Exercise and Sports Science Reviews and the Journal of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
