About

Karen Cielo, PhD, is the Director of Research Development in the College of Applied Health Sciences. Over the past decade, she has supported faculty in securing more than $65 million in grant funding to advance innovative research programs and establish interdisciplinary research centers, including the Center for Climate Health Equity (CECHE) and ENGAGED: Disability Community Engaged Medical Rehabilitation Research Center. Her areas of expertise include team science, center-scale proposal development, early-stage investigator support, and strategic planning for research growth.

Dr. Cielo partners closely with faculty to develop competitive, high-quality grant proposals by providing strategic guidance, team-building support, customized resources, research huddles, mock reviews, and detailed refinement of proposal content.
