About

Leah Lebowicz, MS, EdD, CMI became Program Director of the BVIS program on Jan. 1, 2022. She joined the BVIS faculty in 2012 and has served as Associate Program Director of BVIS since 2019. As part of the BVIS faculty, Leah previously taught the 3D modeling courses and now teaches all the Visual Learning and Thinking courses and research courses in the program. In addition, she has served as a research chair and committee member on numerous Master student research projects. The research topics she and her students have investigated have involved a large variety of topics and mediums.

Leah received her MS in BVIS from UIC in 2012 and her EdD in Adult Education from Capella University in 2020. As part of her doctoral work, she created a wellness program for BVIS students that establishes a supportive culture around mental health where students are not alone in their struggles. The creation of this program, based on current scientific and educational studies, empowers students to take charge of their own wellness, to stay in touch with their needs and to provide them with strategies to deal with the challenges they may face.
