About
I joined the BHIS faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor in January 2018, prior to which I was an adjunct instructor in the department. I have been an educator much of my professional life, beginning with my first position as a high school teacher of Biology and Chemistry; prior to my work at UIC, I was also a writer of articles, essays, and blogs on a variety of topics including education.
Today at UIC I am the Associate Director of Health Informatics Programs and teach BHIS 405 (Pathophysiology), 406 (Medical Terminology), 499 (Information Sources in BHIS), and assist with 503 (Communication Skills in HI). I also oversee the HI Program Orientation and ePortfolio project.
Having earned my Professional Certificate in Online Education in 2020, I am dedicated to and specialize in quality online learning in higher education. I am also currently pursuing my EdD in Adult Education at Capella University, where I am focusing my research on graduate student satisfaction and the development of mentoring opportunities in HI education.
