About
Abby Schindler is a visiting research specialist with the Institute on Disability and Human Development, the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities for the state of Illinois. She is a 2010 alumnus of the Disability and human Development Program, where she also completed a fellowship in the Leadership & Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program. She has worked on projects related to family support policy for families of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, lifespan development, dual diagnosis of intellectual disability and mental illness, Fragile X syndrome newborn screening, and transitions out of state-operated developmental centers (SODCs) for people with intellectual disabilities. Abby's research interests include the history of intellectual and developmental disabilities, disability support policy, and home and community-based services.
