Workshop description: During this free, one hour workshop facilitated by 3Arts/Bodies of Work Resident Artist, Lillian Heredia, we will collaborate in pairs to tear fabric. Then Lillian will lead an interactive demonstration of how to make that torn fabric into cord. At the beginning of the workshop, Lillian will share some of her experiences as an artist new to the disability art community.

About Lillian Heredia: Lillian Heredia’s (she/her) is currently a 3Arts/Bodies of Work Resident Artist. Her work grapples with past experiences with religion, sustenance farming, chronic pain, and motherhood through the lens of her background in biology. She lives and works in Chicago, IL where her work has been shown at The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Lillstreet Art Center, SAIC Galleries, Woman Made Gallery, The Martin, Purple Window, SITE Galleries, and Circle Contemporary. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2011 and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an emphasis in sculpture. Lillian is a recipient of the Presidential Merit Scholarship and has been a finalist in the Pinnacle Awards and the Documentary Family Awards. Her work was featured on Comfort Station’s Artist to Watch series in 2024, and she is currently an artist in residence with 3Arts/Bodies of Work.
