Dr. Hamstra-Wright is a Clinical Professor and Co-Director of the Applied Sports Psychology and Injury Research and Education (ASPIRE) Lab in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition. As a certified athletic trainer with doctoral and post-doctoral training in lower extremity biomechanics, her research focuses on prevention and treatment of lower extremity overuse injury in active populations from physical and psychological perspectives. Dr. Hamstra-Wright’s teaching focuses on applied anatomy, musculoskeletal injury, and holistic wellness. Dr. Hamstra-Wright has been a faculty member at numerous Universities and Colleges with her longest tenure at UIC. Dr. Hamstra-Wright also has experience outside of academia working as an athletic trainer, director of operations, and wellness coach, experiences she brings to the classroom and her research.
