About

Shayna Oshita, PhD RD LDN CDCES is a clinical assistant professor and Director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics within the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Oshita received her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Following this, she attained a doctorate degree in molecular and cellular biology from Northwestern University. She then completed a master’s degree in nutrition at University of Illinois Chicago.

After leaving UIC, Dr. Oshita worked at Sinai Health System on Chicago’s west side providing patient education specializing in nutrition and diabetes self-management. Upon returning to UIC Dr. Oshita helps to train students pursuing degrees in nutrition as well as provide nutrition and diabetes self-management education to its patients and caregivers. Dr. Oshita is a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.
