Bachelor’s in health information management part of nationally ranked online degree programs
As part of UIC’s top ranking online bachelor’s degree offerings, AHS’ BS in health information management has been recognized among the nation’s best.
On U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 list of best online programs, UIC’s bachelor’s programs tied for third overall. This marks the 13th consecutive year U.S. News included UIC in its top ranks.
More than 1,600 online degree programs were evaluated using metrics specific to online learning. UIC's recognition includes the B program along with two other undergraduate degree-completion programs: the College of Nursing’s RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the College of Business Administration’s Bachelor of Business Administration.
The 100% online BSHIM program provides skilled instruction in using information for health care planning and provision, resource allocation and executive decision-making. It is designed to prepare graduates to take the prestigious Registered Health Information Administrator exam. Students explore topics such as coding, systems analysis, data quality management and health information research.
“Online learning is an important part of UIC’s mission to provide the broadest access to the highest levels of educational, research and clinical excellence,” said Karen Colley, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at UIC. “Our flexible, student-centered programs enable students to gain skills and competencies that allow them to compete globally and advance their careers.”
