Anjali J. Forber-Pratt, Ph.D., is Professor and Department Head of Disability & Human Development in the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois Chicago and a two-time Paralympian with 20+ years advancing disability rights, health equity, disability data and inclusive research. A former Biden-Harris Presidential Appointee, she directed the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) where she worked to improve disability representation and inclusion across the research enterprise and fund key projects responsive to disability community needs and previously served as Director of Research at the American Association on Health and Disability. Her scholarship centers on disability identity, and her record spans $4.5M+ in competitive grants, national evaluations, and coalition-building across philanthropy, academia, and government. A consensus-building leader recognized nationally and internationally, she was named a White House Champion of Change in 2013 and is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, which honored her with the 2020 Citizen Psychologist Award for Advancing Disability as a Human Rights and Social Justice Issue.
