About

Dr. Hibbing is a methodologist who studies measurement of energy balance and physical behavior (sleep, sedentary behavior, and physical activity). His overall goal is to generate new health insights by improving measurement, expanding its scope, and applying novel techniques in interventions and epidemiologic studies. Sensor-based methods are his primary emphasis, in both pediatric and adult populations. His work is helping to address longstanding research questions in refined ways, and to make new research questions answerable for the first time. Dissemination is a hallmark of his approach, reflected in a variety of software packages he has authored for the R statistical programming language.
