About
Dr. Alyssa Jones is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois Chicago. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from UIC in 2016. Her passion for neurologic physical therapy led her to complete Boston University’s Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program and become a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy.
Dr. Jones has extensive clinical experience in acute inpatient rehabilitation, including her work at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, where she specialized in gait and mobility interventions for individuals with stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurologic conditions. She continues to integrate her clinical expertise and passion for knowledge translation into her teaching and professional service.
At UIC, Dr. Jones teaches across the Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum, with an emphasis on neurologic rehabilitation, applied pathophysiology, clinical reasoning, and the integration of classroom learning with clinical practice. Her scholarly interests include neurologic rehabilitation, locomotor recovery, and the integration of technology into clinical practice to enhance patient assessment and intervention.
