Faculty and Staff Fridays

This Friday’s discussion will take place via Zoom (please see below for complete information).

During our weekly gatherings, you will have the opportunity to talk with one another, provide mutual support, report a recent accomplishment and share your experiences with the transition to an online environment, among anything else you would like to talk about. Please feel free to log on whenever it is convenient for you. This time is for community-building, support and problem-solving. The meeting is completely voluntary, so please do not feel obligated to attend.

Among other questions that came up during last week’s discussion, one faculty member raised a question about online teaching and learning accessibility for persons with disabilities. Margaret Fink, director of the UIC Disability Cultural Center, has been working on a shared resource document about COVID-19; it was originally/primarily a document about making sure folks think about accessibility for remote teaching, but it’s a little wider now and hopes to be a social justice focused resource around COVID-19. Please view the document at go.uic.edu/COVIDcommunitycare. Along these lines, the theme for this week’s discussion will be accessibility.

We are also inquiring about other questions that came up during our discussion and will get back with you as soon as possible.
