AHS scholarship opportunities available for students

Applications are now open for several AHS scholarship opportunities.  Listed below are potential funding opportunities for currently enrolled AHS students and awards for the upcoming semester.  Some of these opportunities are ongoing throughout the academic year, others are due in December/January.  Please see details below.

Scholarships for AHS Students:

Elena M. Zavos Isotita Endowed Scholarship Award: This award is intended to support students who have a demonstrated interest in, involvement with, or commitment to the transgender identifying community (and such may include but need not be limited to participation in student groups/campus activities, research, advocacy, career goals, experience serving or commitment to serving this population after graduation, etc.) Second preference shall be given to students with a demonstrated interest in, involvement with, or commitment to the broader LBGTQI+ population.

Applications due December 15, 2021.

Vivette Ravel Rifkin Memorial Scholarship Award:  Scholarship for students with demonstrated financial need and who are blind or otherwise visually impaired and may be receiving accommodations and/or services for blindness or other vision impairment from the Disability Resource Center at UIC.

Applications due December 15, 2021.

A Mother’s Love Scholarship Award (opens 11/17/2021): Scholarship for currently enrolled AHS students with demonstrated experience or commitment to working with underserved or underprivileged populations; celebrating diversity in the health sciences, and/or promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and empowerment of underrepresented populations.

Applications due January 11, 2022

AHS Scholarship Award:  Scholarship for continuing AHS students with demonstrated service and volunteerism to the UIC and local community.

Applications due December 15, 2021.

Scalzitti Scholarship Award:  Scholarship for continuing AHS students with demonstrated academic achievement and financial need.

Applications due December 15, 2021.

AHS Van Doren Scholarship Award funded by the AHS Office of the Dean for AHS students for unexpected financial needs.  This award is available on a rolling basis throughout the academic year.
