National task group chaired by Tamar Heller releases report on persons with dementia and their caregivers

A report released by an ad hoc working group chaired by DHD professor and department head Tamar Heller titled, “Caregiving and IDD and Dementia: Report of the Pre-Summit Workgroup on Caregiving and Intellectual and Development Disabilities” is now available. It summarizes the findings and recommendations from a pre-summit activity for the National Research Summit on Care, Services, and Supports for Persons with Dementia and Their Caregivers.

 The report was developed by a working group of experts in caregiving, dementia, and intellectual and developmental disabilities, and organized by the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices  in partnership with the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in Developmental Disabilities (RRTCDD) and Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Alzheimer’s Association. Heller is the director of the RRTCDD.
