Webinar: Diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder in adults
Tuesday, June 27, 2017
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Presenter: Joan Ingram, PhD
This webinar provides an overview of the complex topic of diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in an adult. We will explore the reasons why adult diagnostics are requested, differences among adults who are self-referred vs. referred by others, tools for assessment of ASD in adults, challenges in gathering developmental history and other diagnostic information, concurrent mental health assessment and dual diagnosis. The potential benefits of an ASD diagnosis for an adult, including those with dual diagnosis, as well as the experience of those who do not meet criteria for ASD (and may have a mental health disorder instead) will also be discussed.
