Statement from the UIC Department of Disability and Human Development on social justice

The UIC Department of Disability and Human Development is committed to social justice. This includes justice for the disability community, the black community, and the intersections between them and other marginalized groups.

There is a lot going on in our world right now. The COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing, and both the disability and black community are suffering more than their non-disabled and white peers.

The killing of George Floyd is only one of the latest (of many) pieces of evidence that our country and community is plagued by racism and racial injustice that must be addressed.
