Not just a career—a way of life!

The UIC Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition produces leading experts in the fields of health, fitness and nutrition. Our graduates work in fitness and wellness facilities, for major healthcare institutions, with athletes of all levels, for therapeutic and rehabilitation systems, and become entrepreneurs.

Kinesiology is the study of human movement. Graduates are ready for careers in a variety of health-related disciplines: health and wellness coaching, health-related business operations or sales, personal training, and strength and conditioning. Our graduates also have a strong foundation and necessary prerequisites to pursue further schooling in health-related fields such as: athletic training, cardiac rehabilitation, dentistry, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, sport and exercise psychology, research, and more.

Nutrition focuses on healthy eating and the dietary requirements to maintain wellness and fight disease. A vital part of the healthcare industry, nutritionists practice in areas such as health sciences, rehabilitation and counseling.

Our programs range from undergraduate to the doctoral level, preparing students for successful careers in allied health or continuing their education with advanced degrees.
