Meet Yu

Yue Xu (She,her, hers) is originally from Beijing, China. Yue is passionate about supporting undeserved families of individuals with disabilities and building grass-root disability community in China.

Why did you choose DHD at UIC?
DHD’s PhD program is unique for its interdisciplinary nature.

What do you want to do with a DHD degree?
I want to become a research faculty conducting studies on family support for marginalized families of individuals with disabilities, and disability community building in China.

Research Interests
Family support for under-served families of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities; Disability in China; Epilepsy and disability identity development.
