If you’re interested in healthcare and information technology, UIC’s Bachelor of Science in health information management is perfect for you. After graduation, you’re eligible to take the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical and health services managers is expected to grow by 17 percent from 2014 to 2024 – faster than the average for all occupations.
Health information management professionals protect the privacy and ensure the integrity of the most confidential patient data, including medical histories, lab test reports, diagnoses, treatment plans, insurance information, medications and the notes of doctors and nurses. They are a critical link between doctors, insurance providers and patients, working in accordance with the medical, administrative, ethical and legal requirements of today’s sensitive environment for health information.

The Health Information Management accreditor of the University of Illinois at Chicago is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
